New Day Job

In October, I started working at Toast on Front-End/Full-Stack web development.

Teaching

Going back to my game design/dev roots, I’ve teaching one course per term at Harrisburg University because it’s been one of my interests. So far, I’ve been teaching Game User Interface, Level Design, and senior Game Design project course.

Indie Game Dev

I’m helping on a number of indie devs with their games under my new solo company Clickpulp. I can’t talk about anything yet, but soon.

Programming

For over half a year, I’ve been exploring other programming interests outside of my regular TypeScript/React work environment.

  • Contributions to AGS in C++ to better support iOS, Mac, and consoles.
  • Learning to master the Godot game engine to make it one of my primary personal gamedev tools. I really enjoy working with quirky languages like GDScript.
  • Working with C, C++, and C#

Returning to Linux

I left one cult (Apple) to join another. Hang on… that’s not true, Linux can also be a cult but I tried to stay away. I setup a laptop with Windows/Linux dual boot and setup a basic Ubuntu installation with vanilla GNOME. I’m still using all environments (Win, Mac, Linux) depending on the need.

Mastodon… and Bluesky

With Twitter’s fall from grace and not satisfied with Meta’s offering, I’ve become fairly active on Mastodon. I joined a really chill server run by Brook Miles called sunny.garden, and it’s a great feeling to be part of an independent social media community. Brook also posts about server costs and updates every month, which is refreshing to see.

But after two years of being in the Fediverse, I realized many people I followed before never joined or abandoned it for many reasons. A lot of them have recently joined Bluesky, so I also created an account there to support leaving the “birdsite” for those and reconnect with old friends. I’m in the process of automating posting to both and still figuring out how to keep up with the two.
